Estranhissimo Mundo de Jack CaDA Escola 2022 23 news

The school of the Companhia de Dança de Almada is currently making the final preparations for the most emblematic performance of the academic year, in which students from the Creative Dance and Classical Dance classes of the regular classes, Vocational Course and Basic and Secondary Dance Course participate, as well as the Alma Senior group of Ca.DA.

Inspired by Tim Burton's story, "The Nightmare Before Christmas", the performance will be presented to families and the community on June 10th and 11th. On stage at the Teatro Municipal Joaquim Benite, in Almada, 192 students, from 3 to 90 years old, will rise.

Throughout the academic year, Ca.DA Escola promotes several presentations on stage of the work developed in the classrooms, between teachers and students. In the current academic year 2022/23, presentations began in December, with the discipline "Classic Repertoire" presenting "The Nutcracker", in a program that aims to stimulate the artistic and technical development of young performers. In May, it was time for the presentation of the discipline “Contemporary Dance”, this year inspired by the work of Pablo Picasso. At the end of the year, on July 20, will be presented the result of the creative work developed in the disciplines of “Creative Expression”, “Choreographic Studio” and “Choreographic Composition” and “Improvisation” from the Basic and Secondary Dance Course.

In addition to these presentations, in 2022/23 the school participated in the Momentus GPC festival, promoted by Ginásio Clube de Portugal, in Lisbon, as well as in the ADAGIO – Encontro Internacional de Dança, in Ourém, in which it obtained the 3rd place in the Classic starters category, as well as two 1st places, a 2nd and a 3rd place in different Contemporary categories and the prize for Best Interpretation of Contemporary. The pieces in competition were presented in Almada, on the occasion of the celebration of Dance Day, on the 29th and 30th of April.

As part of a meeting space for the practice and study of Dance, Ca.DA Escola provides specialized artistic training in Dance, offering both vocational and non-vocational courses, and since 2018/19, the Basic and Secondary Dance Course, accredited by the Portuguese Ministry of Education, in conjunction with the Agrupamento de Escolas Emídio Navarro, the Agrupamento de Escolas Anselmo de Andrade, and the Escola Secundária Fernão Mendes Pinto, in Almada.
