ateliers Danca para Todos 2023 CaDA ASDL news

On November 26th, will be presented to the public the final result of the dance workshops developed by teacher and choreographer Rita Judas with a group of children and young people from Projeto+ XLE8G, an initiative of Ca.DA - Companhia de Dança de Almada, within the scope of the “Dança para Todos” (Dance for all) project, in partnership with ASDL - Associação Solidariedade e Desenvolvimento do Laranjeiro.

Entitled “Eu(s)Sociais”, this is a choreography that seeks to involve young people in the process of praising and building the authentic human SOCIAL SELF(IES).

The work developed throughout the weekly workshops had as its starting point the concept of eusociality, a characteristic of some (few) animal species, among others bees, ants and termites, a variety of rats, a type of crab and - more recent but threatened - human species. It is characterized by the coexistence of at least three generations in the same Nest/Family/Community.

Rita Judas trained at has a degree from Escola de Dança do Conservatório Nacional and Escola Superior de Dança, Lisbon. She began her career as a dancer in UPE Dança in1987, with the choreographer Vasco Wallenkamp. She was a dancer and choreographer with Companhia Portuguesa de Bailado Contemporâneo, (1998-2007) and was responsible for the educational programs of the company from 2001 to 2006.

As a dancer and co-choreographer, she participated in the Companhia CIM (Companhia Integrada Multidisciplinar), project in collaboration with Associação VO'Arte and the Associação Portuguesa de Paralisia Cerebral. Rita participated in the BY-PASS project, (a workshop of Architecture in dialogue with the body in motion), under the direction of Rui Horta in Portugal and Germany. She was a teacher of Creative Movement and Contemporary Dance in the creation project of Centro de Experimentação Artística do Vale da Amoreira. She’s currently helping train youngsters in Centro Juvenil do Monte da Caparica and is a teacher in primary schools and of dance.

She is currently a trainer at the Monte da Caparica Youth Center and a teacher at basic and dance schools, including Ca.DA Escola, the school run by Companhia de Dança de Almada.
