Ca.DA - Companhia de Dança de Almada invites the immigrant and refugee communities in Portugal to participate in a workshop as part of the international project Dance Beyond Borders.
This workshop aims to delve deeper into the realities experienced by these communities, and investigate the transformative potential of art and dance in their lives.
During three days, this event will be guided by the choreographers Julienne Schembri and Deborah Falzon, the artists responsible for the project on an European level, approaching the sharing of experiences and an introduction to the role of dance as a form of social integration.
- Taking place from July 5th to 7th, 2024, at Companhia de Dança de Almada’s studios.
- Intended for immigrants and refugees in Portugal, and their descendants, over 16 years of age.
- Free participation.
- In English, with support in the translation into Portuguese.

The Dance Beyond Borders project, supported by EFFEA for the 2023/24 season, is a collaborative effort coordinated by Dance Festival Malta, under the artistic direction of Francesca Tranter, and the collaboration of independent artists from Austria, Belgium, Italy, Serbia and Spain. It aims at artistic creation centred on the issues of the experiences lived by immigrants and refugees in Europe.
