This unique workshop will be spread over three days and integrates the nurturing practices of Somatic and Community Dance, providing a secure and inviting environment for exploration. Our paramount concern is the safety and well-being of all participants throughout the workshop. Together we will delve into the impact of imperialism, colonialism, and racism on our narratives of Displacement and Borders, this discussion-based workshop is carefully crafted to foster reflection, connection, and creative responses under the overarching theme of Decolonisation.
Participants will engage in a thoughtful analysis of curated videos, texts, and stories, shedding light on the complexities of Decolonising Migration Storytelling. The facilitation is designed to gently guide individuals in reflecting on their own memories and narratives, constructing a personal entry point into the experiences of those seeking refuge, and understanding the intricate links with various social, political, and cultural forces. Open to people from all backgrounds, the workshop aims to raise awareness of the narratives shaping both those seeking safety and residents of host countries, countering the influence of stories that often take the form of propaganda. Amidst story exchanges, discussions, and debates, we will also explore the significance of the Body and Language as crucial facets of storytelling. Join us in this empowering and secure space, where movement, reflection, and creative expression converge to reshape narratives with empathy, respect, and a commitment to positive change.
