Companhia de Dança de Almada premieres the new creation on the 22nd and 24th of September. “Agarra a minha mão e...”, by Tiago Manquinho, is the result of an invitation to the choreographer to work with the company's dancers in an artistic residency.
Against the backdrop of a pandemic and a war, a reflection on how we feel vulnerable individually and in society is proposed. What social structures and interpersonal connections are the connective tissue that really keep us together?, asks the choreographer.
Tiago Manquinho, born in Vila Franca de Xira, has lived in Germany since 2000, where he joined the cast of Balett Semperoper Dresden, after two seasons as a member of the National Ballet Company. He went through several theaters in Germany as a solo dancer and participated, as well as co-created, numerous choreographies, which came to strongly influence his artistic signature. Since 2017 he has dedicated himself solely to choreographic work, having created for Staatstheater Braunschweig, Tanzcompagnie Gießen, Tanztheater Münster and Ballett Vorpommern, among others.
The premiere of "Agarra a minha Mão e..." opens the 30th edition of the Quinzena de Dança de Almada - International Dance Festival, in the the Joaquim Benite Municipal Theater.
