On the 18th of May, will be streamed the panel of the 3rd edition of NU.DA. – Nuova Danza in which participate Ana Macara, Co-Artistic Director of Quinzena de Dança de Almada - International Dance Festival.
The NU.DA. - Nuova Danza festival is an original format of the company Movimento Danza, from Naples - Italy, conceived by Gabriella Stazio, with the aim of creating new opportunities to promote Italian choreographers under 35 years old. In each panel, three young Italian choreographers are presented, who talk about their works and artistic visions, interacting and talking with the invited cultural operators.
Born in Lisbon, Ana Macara began her career as a dancer in 1979, after studying Classical Dance with Anna Máscolo, Jazz Dance with Edgar Coronado and Contemporary Dance with Susanah Hayman-Shaffey and Aaron Osborn, among others. As a dancer and choreographer, she was part of the Grupo Experimental de Dança Jazz and the Grupo Atitudes e Movimentos, which she directed, in addition to numerous projects for the stage, different urban spaces and television. Since 1990, she has collaborated with Companhia de Dança de Almada as choreographer, artistic advisor and artistic co-director of Quinzena de Dance of Almada. She holds a master's degree in Dance from the University of North Carolina and a PhD in the same area from the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana (FMH) of the Universidade de Lisboa, where she taught from 1983 to 2015. Retired as Associate Professor with aggregation, she also integrates the Centro de Estudos em Artes Performativas and the Pólo FMH of the Instituto de Etnomusicologia – Música e Dança.
