On 24 and 25 May, the school of Companhia de Dança de Almada will present the most emblematic show of the academic year, featuring students from the Creative Dance and Classical Dance classes of the regular courses, the Vocational Course and Basic and Secondary Dance Course, as well as the Alma Sénior, the senior group from Ca.DA.
Matilda, a bright, curious and fearless girl, is the motto for this presentation. Born into a family that doesn't want her, she discovers her superpower, IMAGINATION, in books. When she joins a school where smiling is forbidden, she takes on the task of defending her classmates from the evil headmistress, thus living the adventure of a lifetime.
Throughout the year, Ca.DA Escola organises various stage performances of the work done in class by teachers and students. In the current 2024/25 school year, the performances began in December, with the Classical Repertoire class presenting ‘Coppélia’, in a programme that aims to stimulate the artistic and technical development of young performers.
In April, it was time for the presentation of the works that Ca.DA Escola took to ADAGIO - International Dance Meeting, where it won the award for Best Choreography and 16 medals from 1st to 3rd place, in various categories.
In June, the final Contemporary Dance show will also be presented, which this year delves into the shadows where the great villains of humanity and fiction live; and in July, at the end of the school year, the result of the creative works developed within the scope of the disciplines "Creative Expression", "Choreographic Studio" and "Choreographic Composition" of the Basic and Secondary Dance Course will be presented.
In addition to these presentations, the final year students of the same course will present their Artistic Aptitude Test on May 7th, at the Osvaldo Azinheira Auditorium at Academia Almadense.
As part of a meeting space for the practice and study of Dance, Ca.DA Escola provides specialized artistic training in Dance, offering both vocational and non-vocational courses, and since 2018/19, the Basic and Secondary Dance Course, accredited by the Portuguese Ministry of Education, in conjunction with the EmÃdio Navarro School Group and the Fernão Mendes Pinto Secondary School, in Almada.
