At the beginning of April, Companhia de Dança de Almada travels to Lugo, in Spain, for a short artistic residency that will lead to the premiere of a new version of the performance “Inverno”, a creation by Bruno Duarte.
Inspired by the traditional Festas dos Rapazes (boys’ festivities) that, throughout the Northeast of Trás-os-Montes, Portugal and Galiza in tneighboring Spain, span the twelve-day period between Christmas and Three Kings Day (January 6), “Inverno” (Winter), in this new version for a cast of six dancers, seeks to encapsulate the essence of these different celebratory practices and rituals.
The premiere takes place as part of the program of the LED - Lugo en Danza cycle, organized by the Concellería de Cultura, Turismo e Promoción da Lingua de Lugo, which aims to present the best of Galician dance in the city, alongside a selection of international proposals.
In its original version, from 2019, the performance “Inverno” toured several cities from north to south of Portugal and was presented at Polski Teatr Tańca, in Poznań - Poland, as well as at the Solocoreografico festival in Turin - Italy and Ankara - Turkey, with an emblematic solo.
